Incredibly powerful and beautiful Hurricane Bill passed almost directly over Buoy 41044 yesterday, and recorded winds up to 80 kts and Significant Wave Heights of 40 ft (significant waves are the highest one-third of the waves during a 20 minute sampling period). It is clear that Bill will go down as one of the most powerful and impressive storms in the Atlantic. All Hail Bill!

Whatever that NOAA Weather Modification Bouy did, it worked. Bill is a shadow of itself after it passed over the buoy, and is barely a major hurricane today, and the eye has filled in from the special "Eye-Filling Foam" that was sprayed into it. Good job NOAA! Now Bill will fade into the ash-heap of wannabe historical storms. - HLG
