Houston, "IKE" and Bad Evacuation Scenario

In a previous post, BB astutely observed that the situation with "IKE" and evacuation of Houston/Galveston is getting to the critical phase. Luckily the storm is moving slowly, and giving a little more time to plan. Notice the Houston Texans haven't even post-poned/moved their home game Sunday, and it is now Thursday. Bad signal there. The Housont metro area is over 6.5 million people. The storm is forecast to make a sharp right turn at land-fall, this complicating which direction the individual evacuee decides to go (right of left on I-10?) Wrong turn and you could drive into the direction of a strengthening hurricane. Ouch! The evacuation for Rita was handled very poorly, and the upper Texas Coast hasn't been hit by a category 4 storm since the Great Galveston Hurricane. Very tough situation for emergency managers, not to mention the citizens of the country's fourth largest metropolis.
