Either the platform is in the eye - or suffering major damage. NOAA just published storm surge plots for Galveston Bay - looks to be over 20ft surge (at least).
Ike's eye can now be seen clearly on the radar. One thing that jumps out is the eye's size. Katrina's eye went from Slidell to Diamondhead - about 30 miles. Ike's eye looks to be about 80 miles (from New Orleans to Baton Rouge). Wow!
