"IKE" Pinpoint Eye Night-time Visible

Cat 1? Can we get a plane out there please!

Looks like a strengthening Cat 2 from here.

Latest track looks like Ike will be over Texas a long time. Could be a major flooding event in the Hill Country if this track holds.

I haven't checked to see when the next's mission is.

What do you think about Ike's forward speed (or lack of it). I was reading on Breck's Blog (I know, it's like saying, "Well, Mike Reader said ..."), and I concur with him that this apparent slow down could allow the trough digging out of the Rockies to influence Ike more than the models are forecasting. Need to get the storm past 90W.

GG weighing in here: Lots of discussion about the reduction in forward speed and whether it will slow down enough for the northward turn to happen earlier. MUST get it past 90W for sure. This will be one of those that even though the models and HLG's prognostication bring it to Corpus, has to be viewed with a wary eye till it gets on past. Hurry up Ike since the Hadron Collider didn't suck it in.
