Also, I did nothing but post the OFFICIAL NHC forecast, which clearly points to the NGC! Maybe the TV weather jerk-offs should just let the pros at the NHC handle the official forecast!

My Bob needs to shut up. He uses the DIPIR model at home to forecast, the VIPIR model is a scam. He just needs to put me back on his head and he will start thinking clearly again.
According to VIPIR, it seems that no storm will ever come to Louisiana. Is this why Bob hypes it so much? "When I come on later, I'm gonna show you the VIPIR model, wait'll you see this, gang!" Hype, hype, hype. I thought only the other channels did that?
Now, what makes you think that Bob would be doing this for the ratings??? As he posted the other night, he is simply trying to "earn our trust". BS!!! It must be ratings time because every damn news channel in the New Orleans market is kissing up to the viewers and trying to get them to change the dial. Hell, just this morning Roop Raj was tripping over himself to thank all the viewers who have stuck with them over the years and blah, blah, blah. Give me the news, trot out the traffic girl and shut up.
My problem is that guys like Breck are still stuck in the past when nobody else had ready access to model outputs, forecast tracks, radar loops and satellite imagery from which to draw their own conclusions. Do you need to know a little something about what you're looking at??? OF COURSE YOU DO. But the NOAA/NWS/NHC/TPC/XYZ, or whatever the hell their acronym is this week still thinks that the United States is full of imbeciles who can't think for themselves and have to be spoon fed information so as not to cause widespread panic amongst the population. They are still of the opinion that nobody else is entitled to their own opinion and that everyone's opinion should be that of the NOAA/NWS/NHC/TPC/XYZ.
There used to be an unwritten rule that the local TV meteorologists were supposed to follow ... post the official forecast track and don't speculate. Now it seems like every local TV meteorologist whose parent company has enough money to buy a wx model from some hack who developed it in his garage on an Apple IIE is entitled to their own opinion. So how is that different from what 5 college educated individuals, who know a little something about the ologies, are doing on a blog. Check out the mission statement on the frontpage.
Am I exagerating??? YES I AM, but I think you get the point. Anyone who stumbles across this, or any other weather blog is obviously in search of a second opinion because they don't trust the highly politicized crap they're being fed by the NHC folks or the ratings inspired hype (VIPIR, VIPIR, VIPIR) that they're getting from their local TV market. And they sure as heck know that this IS NOT the official forecast from the NHC nor should the information be used to make life and death decisions.
It's a discussion group plain and simple and people are entitled to post their thoughts or seek out what others are thinking. Remember, the ones who are complaining about the bloggers are the ones who make a living off of the viewer tuning into their newscast every night or think that they should have the only opinion when it comes to tropical weather that MAY threaten our area.
Maybe when the NOAA/NWS/NHC/TPC/XYZ cuts their political ties and starts making decisions based on the data in front of them, I'll reconsider what I write here. Until then, BLOG ON!!!
