SENTINELS OF THE SEA

TROPICAL STORM HANNA DISCUSSION NUMBER 9
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL AL082008
500 AM EDT SAT AUG 30 2008

THERE HAS BEEN NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE CLOUD PATTERN OF HANNA. THE CENTER CONTINUES TO RUN AWAY FROM THE CONVECTION AND NEW THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY REDEVELOPS OVER IT. THIS MEANS THAT THE SHEAR HAS NOT RELAXED YET. A NOAA BUOY...41043...HAS BEEN EXTREMELY USEFUL IN TRACKING THE CYCLONE. IT HAS DEPICTED THE WELL-DEFINED SURFACE CIRCULATION ASSOCIATED WITH HANNA AND HAS RECENTLY REPORTED A MINIMUM PRESSURE OF NEAR 1002 MB.

"GOD BLESS NOAA'S SEA BUOYS"
"SEN - TI - NELS OF THE SEA!"
"STAND BE - HIND THEM"
"AND BE GUIDE - ED BY"
"THEIR NON-PO LIT TIC CAL OBS!"
(Sing to tune of God Bless America - and shout out to HLG)

Interesting question - maybe we can pose it to Dr. Lyons on the WCMSNBC - If Gustav turned south into the Gulf and Hanna came into the Gulf, and they "mated" to form one megastorm - would it be called Ike? Larster - comments?

Woke up this morning to a sound I have not heard in three years - the roaring of chain saws. There must be five or six guys cutting trees down in the neighborhood.

You've gone too far Klingfree - who told you that??? I enjoyed HLGustav's song very much - thank you... and now, I am not the famous BB of NOLA fame.

Some great news from New Orleans - 1. the military has arrived and is already setting up shop.
2. people are getting out of the area sooner than later.
3. the LSU game has been moved to 10:00 am, so people can evacuate Baton Rouge after the storm - priorities please.
