Actually, they are flying out of Homestead today and are on their way. I agree the TD call was pre-emptive because they didn't want to look foolish having to name a HURRICANE without having designated it as a TD first. Now, they can state on the next advisory like it is rapidly developing, blah, blah, blah, like they've had their finger on the pulse of the storm the whole time. Note the wording of the 11am advisory and how they point out that they have been monitoring it for a long time. BS, they cut short the advisories on Fay so they could take the rest of the weekend off. Came back to the office this morning and found a TS that was almost a Hurricane. Sad, sad, sad.

The larster has Hurrtrak on his system which allows him to see the recon progress live. Just before we ate lunch the plane was crossing over cuba and should be in "Gustav" now. Scary one this Gustav. Hopefully VIPIR and Bobspeed will steer Gustav away and it will spare the gulf coast. gg

I am anxious to see Breck's forecast tonight. I suspect that he will emphatically state that this MAJOR hurricane is "nothing for us to worry about gang" ... I mean, after all he is trying to "earn our trust". All hail the mighty VIPIR model ... One of these days, he's gonna get burned.

Seriously though, I'm thinking we ought to let Channels 4 & 6 know that they are being called out on his blog. I'll give Laura Buchtel a call and discuss it with her over lunch. BB, you get to meet with Margaret Orr.

It's got to be ratings time because I tuned in WDSU at 6am this morning and they were thanking all their viewers for watching them everyday (GAG). I hate to tell Roop that the only reasons I watch WDSU in the morning are Randi Rousseau and Melanie Hebert.

I am no weather person, but it sure looks nasty and big to me. I'll be watching this one.
